With recreational cannabis legalization set to arrive in just a few short months, members of the expected $6 billion industry are gathering at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary for a series of educational seminars on the outlook for the nascent industry.

Billed as “Cannabis Canada’s First Annual National Educational Conference and Business Opportunity Forum”, Cannabis Con is a two-day event featuring government officials, industry leaders and business experts from across the country, all providing updated information on everything from health and lifestyle to investing and retail involvement.

Among the companies present is Newstrike Resources Ltd which recently picked up $80 million in financing as it readies a recreational brand backed by the band, the Tragically Hip.

Newstrike CEO Jay Wilgar says brand awareness will be a significant factor when the recreational cannabis market open for business.
